Ingredients

For the Glitter Bombs
  • 2 cups cotton candy pink and blue or colors of choice
  • 2 tsp food-grade edible glitter gold, silver, or holographic — divided among bombs
For the Drinks
  • 4 cups cold sparkling water or lemonade chilled
  • 4 tbsp simple syrup adjust to taste
  • 3 cups clear ice cubes
For Garnish
  • 8 sprigs fresh mint optional

Equipment

  • Tall clear glasses
  • Parchment-lined tray
  • Long cocktail spoon

Method

  1. Tear off small sections of cotton candy and shape into loose nests about 2-3 inches across.
  2. Place a generous pinch of edible glitter into the center of each cotton candy nest.
  3. Gently fold the edges of the cotton candy up around the glitter to enclose it loosely.
  4. Place the finished glitter bombs on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Fill tall glasses with ice and add a splash of simple syrup.
  6. Pour cold sparkling water or lemonade into each glass, filling about ¾ of the way.
  7. Balance one cotton candy glitter bomb on the rim of each glass.
  8. At serving time, let guests drop the bomb into their own glass and watch the color and glitter swirl and explode through the drink.
  9. Stir gently with a long cocktail spoon to distribute the color and glitter throughout.
  10. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig or matching color straw and serve immediately.

Notes

Freeze glitter bombs for at least 15 minutes before serving so they hold their shape on the rim. Balance on the rim rather than placing inside the glass so guests can drop it themselves for the full effect.
