Ingredients

For the Brown Sugar Syrup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
For the Frozen Drink
  • 1 very ripe banana frozen overnight for best results
  • 2 shots espresso or strong cold brew concentrate cooled to room temperature
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar syrup from above, adjust to taste
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon plus more for serving
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup oat milk or whole milk
  • 1.5 cups ice cubes
For Topping
  • 2 tbsp caramel sauce for drizzling

Equipment

  • High-powered blender
  • Tall clear glasses
  • Small saucepan
  • Wide straws

Method

  1. Make the brown sugar syrup by combining equal parts brown sugar and water in a small saucepan. Stir over medium heat until dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Brew a double shot of espresso and let it cool to room temperature, or use cold brew concentrate.
  3. Add the banana, cooled espresso, brown sugar syrup, cinnamon, vanilla extract, oat milk, and ice to a blender.
  4. Blend on high for 60 seconds until completely smooth and thick with no ice chunks remaining.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness, spice, or thickness as needed.
  6. Pour into two tall glasses.
  7. Top each drink with a drizzle of caramel sauce and a light dusting of ground cinnamon.
  8. Serve immediately with a wide straw.

Notes

Use a very ripe or frozen banana for the best banana bread flavor and thickest texture. Let espresso cool before blending so it doesn't melt the ice. Blend for a full 60 seconds for the smoothest result.
